The following are some of the risk factors associated with CHD.

  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Smoking
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity/Overweight
  • Family history of early onset CHD (before 55 years for male, before 65 years for female)

While you can’t control all of the risk factors associated with CHD, the goal of this site is to increase your awareness of the ones you can control and give you information to help you understand and reduce your risk.

Of immediate importance, if you are at risk for CHD, talk to your doctor. He or she will determine the appropriate tests and actions needed. One of the diagnostic tools your physician may utilize is a stress test. And, while this site provides information about what’s involved in a stress test, Stress Test Coach will give you more detailed information on preparing for and taking a stress test.
